In Memory of Elisabeth Hewitt Bantz
Who went to be with her Lord in June of 2011
Back in 1976, as a young mother of five, I never dreamed of becoming a writer. Suddenly, the day I registered my youngest in Kindergarten, an unbelievable scene appeared before me. As the weeks progressed, the story unfolded, and the characters became real. I wondered what I should do with it, so I asked God, and He said, "Write a Christian romance."
First by longhand, then by a garage-sale typewriter, I began transferring the tale onto paper. The fact that there were no publishers doing Christian romance back then did not stop me, and by the time I finished the four-book series many years later, there were plenty. I feel humbled to be included in the family of great authors at Desert Breeze Publishing.
I hope you will enjoy this generational saga that preludes in Southern Illinois at the 1904 St. Louis World's fair where Ruth's parents meet. An only child, twenty-one year old Ruth Blanchard must nurse her crippled mother while assisting her father with the crops and the animals on their farm. But she secretly yearns to be free... to travel. Little does she know the secrets she will uncover as her wish is granted. Nor the cost.
