A Desert Breeze Publishing Free Read

The heir to the throne, Crown Prince Mihai Sigmaringen has returned from England to take his rightful place by this father's side. He's to learn Moldavian politics and take a bride.

Love, however, is as cold as the prick of an icicle. Can the lady of Mihai's dreams, Theresa von Kracken, warm the frost that has settled over his heart?

EXCERPT

Sequel to the Moldavian Moon series, coming May 1, 2011

"My Lady, are you safe?"

"Yes." Her voice was soft and gentle with a lyrical quality to it. She stepped out from behind the soldier guarding her.

Mihai swallowed. She was beautiful, slender and lithe, though her winter cape covered most of her dress. Her long auburn hair fell past her shoulders in gentle waves. Her skin was light, yet flawless, and her eyes glowed like rich amber topaz gems. He wanted to say something, but her beauty rendered him mute.

"My Prince." She curtsied.

He took a step forward and then bowed. "My Lady."

She looked at her guard. "Leave us, please."

He nodded and walked off.

Mihai pursed his lips, studying her. Her warm familiarity wrapped him in a blanket of curiosity. "I know you."

Her lips tipped into a smile. "I should hope so. We've only been in each other's dreams since we were five."

"Yes," he said. A mild apprehension filled him. "You are the girl from my dreams."

"Now a woman."

"Yes, now a woman," he confirmed. A woman who stirred a deep attraction within him. It confused him since he thought himself incapable of feeling again for a woman since Alexandra refused to come with him to Moldavia.

"And you are a young man," she said, gently.

"I am."

Snow collected on the shoulders of her cape, but she brushed it off. "Why did you stay away from our dreams? I missed you."

This prequel to Moldavian Moon -- The Wolf's Torment was a page turner for me, not a regular reader of paranormal romance. Ms. Burkhart skillfully weaves a story guaranteed to lead me on a fascinating excursion that will take me directly to the heart of where undying love exists and where werewolves come to life. Now, that's intriguing.
